I read a post somewhere from someone that the movie actors were chosen very well. I have to agree, I went to the HP site and looked at the actors playing the various roles and almost everyone of them is almost exactly how I pictured the characters. The only exception being Professor McGonagall, I pictured her being considerably younger looking and I always pictured Draco Malfoy with black hair, although he looks just like I pictured other than the hair color. Everyone else is just spot on though

Having seen the movie now, I thoroughly agree with my last post, although the McGonagall and Malfoy characters worked very well for me.
The movie was most awesome. Very true to the book. The first half of the movie was practically word for word. The second half kinda blended somethings together that were actually a bit stretched out in the movie anyway.
My honey hasn't read the books, but said the movie was as good as the Wizzard of Oz (That's very high praise, BTW).
The special effects were awesome, although the quidditch match moved a little too quickly for me and got me a little woozy watching it.
I was a bit disappointed that they cut the potions scene from the end, especially since Dumbledore awarded Hermione points for resourcefulness and they didn't really show her being all that resourceful (although she did get them past the first challenge after Fluffy)
Overall I still give it a 10, now I'm drooling waiting for the 2nd movie, because as Iz mentioned on another site, the books get better with each novel.
Also anxiously awaiting at least word on when the 5th book will be released.
Anyone have any idea when we might at least here when it's projected to be released?

I got to see the movie this past weekend and thought it was most excellent.
There were some differences between the movie and the book here and there, but overall I thought the was very true to the original.
The characters were terrific. To me, it was if they stepped right out of the pages. I act found myself wanting more of the Dursleys since the actors had them dead on.

But then as I was reading Prisoner of Azkaban, just this weekend, in the scene where Harry is throwing mud at Malfoy near the Shrieking Shack, Malfoy was described as having nearly silver blond hair. Well, I'd remembered Sin's comment about that when I ran across it, so it really stuck out. I still, even with that, though, picture dark hair. Go figger. Or am I thinking of a certain gray owl wizard with nearly black hair?

I CAN'T belive it! I was really looking forward to reading Prisoner over my holiday, and flipping through a magazine article on Harry Potter the other day, the reporter gave away the whole plot!! Guess some people have never heard of Spoiler Alerts.
Needless to say, I quit reading when the same jerk started to reveal the plot to goblet.
I am really looking forward to the Lord of the Rings. Although not one of my friends wants to see it. Unbelievable.

Iz, you may want to read Prisoner of Azkaban anyway. There's alot of different plot threads running through it, and kinda hard to believe 1 lame reporter could ruin that much plot in 1 story synopsis. Prisoner, like Goblet of Fire, are like 2 books in one. Halfway through one situation ends and another takes over. Plus Goblet means alot more after having read Prisoner.

Finally, we have some word on the next book
I copied this post off the B5 LotR official site, one of their admins posted
Looks like the official publication date has finally been set - according to news on the Bloombury magazine site, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be published in Britain, the USA, Canada, Australia and in the English language in many countries on 21st June 2003.
At least we'll be getting plenty of stuff for the long wait. According to the article, The Order of the Phoenix is "over one third longer than the previous book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire".
Iznardy, says Barnes and Noble is listing it for July 31 (JK Rowling and Harry Potter's birthday)

Desperate for Potter news?
I recommend going to the Leaky Cauldron (http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org). I've found it to be the best single source for news updates on the books, the movies, the casting, etc.
Meanwhile, if you have nothing to read until Phoenix, try Megan Whalen Turner's "The Thief" and its sequel "The Queen of Attolia." They're great. Along with Rowling, Turner has become my favorite author in youth fiction.
